Molise wines

Viticulture in Molise is already attested in pre-Roman times and between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it was the main wine producer in the kingdom of Naples. The typical vines are Tintilia, Montepulciano and Aglianico but we also find Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo. The less common whites include Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia Bianca Lunga and Bombino bianco. The well-known international grape varieties are also widespread.
