The 2013 was slow to ripen, the downy mildew of May and June and the rains of September, gave the winemakers a hard time. But, as in all difficult situations, one learns to turn the problem into strengths, and so the wines were also positively affected: from 2013 came wines with that distinct acidity that gave them a front-row seat in the cellar, with an eye to the future.
That Verdicchio has its typical freshness when drunk young is undisputed, at least as much as its ability to last over time especially in this case, while as far as the DOCG reserves are concerned, it seems that 2013 has yielded wines that are nothing short of excellent, capable of tripping even respectable foreign appellations.
Savoriness and acidity always well balanced typical of Verdicchio and a long aging in the bottle for all these years will give nice surprises to those who have been able to wait until now.
