Chambolle Musigny Comte De Vogue 2015
A truly great wine, like all Comte de Voguè crystalline, pure, and elegant. By choice, the Domaine Comte Georges De Vogüé, is among the first producers in all of Chambolle-Musigny to harvest, the reason is the search for elegance and freshness. In the cellar, the winemaking operations, conducted by François Millet, involve completely de-stemmed grapes and fermented in wooden containers, the latter activated by indigenous yeasts only. The temperatures are controlled, never exceeding 34 °. After fermentation the wines are aged in Allier woods at 35-40% for this Grand Cru. Once the malolactic is carried out, it rests for 18 months to evolve like few and become sensual and seductive.
Bright, clear and vibrant red. Scents of violet, blueberry, rose petals and minerals. On the palate there is a beautiful structure, with hints of ripe red fruit and orange peel supported by a sustained freshness and tannins.
Comte Georges de Vogue
This Domaine is one of the most historic of Burgundy, in fact it was born in 1450 in Chambolle-Musigny. Of the 12 Ha owned, 7 are in the Grand Cru Musigny, Which makes the company the most important owner of this Grand Cru. To complete the wine estate there are the plots inside the Grand cru Bonnes-Mares and the extraordinary 1er cru of Chambolle-Musigny "Les Amoureuses". This Domaine produces a total of 40,000 bottles per year. The half a hectare of Chardonnay, planted within Grand Cru Musigny, is a rarity. Comte de Vogüé is the only one to produce this Grand Cru in white, but just after the vineyard has become fifty years older. Musigny Grand cru vineyards are downgraded to Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru until they reach 25 years of age. This is a further demonstration of the rigor of this Domaine which is an example for the regularity, refinement and longevity of its wines. An important breakthrough within the Domaine is in 1996 when they were added to the company's staff Eric Bourgogne, vineyard manager, and François Millet, the winery manager. From that moment on, the company returns to be one of the strongest points in Burgundy and comes out of the long period of torpor, in which it has failed to fully develop the potential that it has proved to be capable of over the years to come.
