The Hermitage wines are ideally connected to the Chave family, which also produces wines on this side of the river, the St. Joseph, but the Hermitage is another thing. First of all for the particularity of the territory and its climate different from any other denomination of the Rhone. This mountain positioned perpendicular to the axis of the Rhone, whose slopes are protected from north winds and spring frosts, benefits from an extremely favorable microclimate. And even towards the full south the vineyard does not suffer from drought since the roots of the old syrah, marsanne and roussanne plants have a relative ease of going deep into the ground. From Chave the single origin of each wine occurs, it is defined which will be worthy of joining the vintage Hermitage, while the rest will be sold to the negociants market, thus creating only two wines: Hermitage Rouge, Hermitage Blanc.
