Malvasia Istriana Marko Fon 2022
Marko Fon's Malvasia Istriana comes from grapes aged 20 years and older. Once brought into the cellar the grapes undergo maceration between 24 and 48 hours then fermentation takes place through the indigenous yeasts. Once the wine has finished the malolactic fermentation, it is matured for 12 months in steel containers.
Marko Fon
Komen, a tiny village in the Slovenian Karst a few kilometers from Trieste. It was here that Marko Fon began his winemaking career in 1993, after the death of his father. Just 4 hectares divided into numerous plots, with vines rarely less than 45 years old. The varieties that are grown are those indigenous to this area, namely Malvasia, Vitovska and Teran. Marko's vineyards are grassed with wild flora and are conducted without the use of herbicides, fertilizers and systemic treatments.
Marko Fon's goal is to reflect the soul of Karst in his wines.
