Terrano Marko Fon 2020
Marko Fon has a few Teran vines with an average age of about 50 years. Cultivation practices are still those of the great worker of the red lands of Karst, with his spirituality encompassing the essence of the farmer.
The harvest is carried out in the second half of October. Also for Teran, only indigenous yeasts are used and the wine, after fermentation with a short maceration on the skins and malolactic fermentation, is aged for 24 months in large wooden barrels. This great wine is made only in great vintages. According to Marko Fon this is not his teran. This is the Teran of Karst.
Marko Fon
Komen, a tiny village in the Slovenian Karst a few kilometers from Trieste. It was here that Marko Fon began his winemaking career in 1993, after the death of his father. Just 4 hectares divided into numerous plots, with vines rarely less than 45 years old. The varieties that are grown are those indigenous to this area, namely Malvasia, Vitovska and Teran. Marko's vineyards are grassed with wild flora and are conducted without the use of herbicides, fertilizers and systemic treatments.
Marko Fon's goal is to reflect the soul of Karst in his wines.
