La Distesa is a rural community conducted with great intelligence by Corrado and Valeria Dottori. It is located in the hinterland of the Marche region and extends over two farms in the municipality of Cupramontana, in the province of Ancona. The prevailing activity is the cultivation of vines for the production of high quality wines, but the farm also consists of olive trees, vegetable garden, fodder, forest. Certified organic farming is practiced throughout the company.

The red Nocenzio grapes come from the San Michele vineyard in the Municipality of Cupramontana. Through a short pruning, a correct green pruning and the observance of strict organic farming methods, a low yield per hectare is obtained (around 50 quintals, about 35 Hl). The wine comes from Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, complemented by 5% of Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested at different times, perfectly ripe. The macerations vary depending on the vine from 9 to 15 days and take place in small open wooden vats. After the alcoholic fermentation, which naturally occurs without the inoculation of selected yeasts, the wine is put together in exhausted French barriques where it stops for about a year. The wine is dry and sapid; it is endowed with powerful tannins, even tough in youth, but fine; It has a good structure. The nose reveals notes of small red fruits, plum jam, black cherry along with pleasing hints of cocoa, mint and juniper berries. In general it offers a feeling of elegance and austerity that increases with bottle aging. This wine evolves in the bottle reaching its peak after 4/5 years from the harvest. It is always advisable to open the bottle a couple of hours before consumption. It can be combined with grilled meat, beef cuts and aged cheeses.

La Distesa

La Distesa

La Distesa comes from the desire to produce wines that respect the territory and the vines. Wines that are not approved to the dominant international taste that requires a built ease and a pleasantness. "To be winemakers for us means first of all telling the territory, with its thousand complexities, and following the seasons, with their always different evolutions. This is why we have chosen a method of organic cultivation, so as to express without distortion what the earth brings with it, naturally. Being winemakers means then directly following the whole production process, from the land to the consumer. For years we have been working in the vineyards trying to safeguard and let biodiversity be expressed as much as possible, sowing favino, vetch, pea, alfalfa and letting the spontaneous essences prosper. We do not fertilize, we treat only with sulfur and small doses of copper.

Once or twice a year we spray the biodynamic preparation 500 (cornoletame). The low yields per vine, the careful selection of the grapes during harvesting - performed manually, in small crates - the spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the low levels of sulfur dioxide, the careful refinements are fundamental parts of our work."

In the winery located in the sunny district of San Michele di Cupramontana, the city of Verdicchio, the grapes are vinified to obtain a limited production of bottles for high catering, wine bars, wine shop.
