From this small company of Buttrio come out every year less than 10 thousand bottles and obviously focuses on quality and not on quantity so much to be able to reach very high levels also and above all with Refosco and with Merlot as well as with Friulano, Sauvignon, Ribolla and the Chardonnay in spite of an Italian wine culture that would like Friuli as a land of excellence only for whites.
Miani's 2017 Malvasia La Mont di Zu'c Miani does not hide its territorial characteristics, being located in the area for the best production of this grape variety. Intense straw yellow, the nose is striking for its intense aromas of dried fruit, almonds, lemon peel, acacia honey, and herbs. On the palate it enters with considerable acidity that balances the fruity and honeyed hints. The characteristics of the soil here called Ponca, emerge despite the fact that a droughty year with intense hailstorms loaded Enzo Pontoni with work.
Miani
The historical Miani winery has its roots in the Colli Orientali of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Enzo Pontoni can be considered a true 'vine cultivator', who devotes all his energies to the exceptional care of the land and the production of great wines, while staying away from excessive clamour.
The wines produced aim to do justice to an absolutely unique terroir within the Colli Orientali, that of an authentic grand cru such as the village of Buttrio. Cellar work has taken on increasingly refined tones in the clear ambition to gain a position of classicism and finesse.
