Antoine Gaita left us too soon. Antoine Gaita was the greatest innovator of doing Fiano.
He managed to innovate thanks to a great wine culture, he was always one of the few Irpinia winemakers curious about the wines of the world, and also thanks to an extraordinary sensitivity. In practice, an "example" for the winemakers of the whole of Italy, who risk being crushed by the habit of excessive parochialism that oppresses them.
Antoine also leaves his daughter Serena with his wife Diamante who has decided to get his hands and boots dirty, to go into the vineyard, to collect his inheritance.
Long live the Gaita, long live Villa Diamante!

Fiano Riserva Vigna della Congregazione is Villa Diamante's longest-lived wine and inherits its name from the soil on which the vine is planted. The soil is clayey with the presence of calcareous marl.

After harvesting, the grapes undergo soft pressing and subsequent fermentation in steel tanks. Maturation, also in steel tanks. lasts 11 months.

Three Senses
Intense minerality and austere acidity have always characterized Antoine Gaita's Fiano. In this vintage played mainly on finesse it seems that the wine still wants to stay in the bottle a few years. Sulphurous nose with citrus notes, it opens after a while to a rather floral bouquet to underline the elegance of the wine. Taut and biting mouthfeel, still far from balanced, but where it is possible to read a great aging potential.PairingsIndicate with spring soups of broad beans and peas, or with a plateau of soft cheeses.

Villa Diamante

villa diamante vigneto

Villa Diamante is a three-hectare winery just in Montefredane, a favorite place for the cultivation of the Fiano vine. Antoine Gaità was one of the best performers of this vine. Disappeared at the age of 60, he leaves a legacy as a true winemaker, the first to start treating fiano with white gloves. First wood but then only steel, stopping on the lees, interventions reduced to a minimum both in the vineyard and in the cellar. A work of tradition based on the conviction of the relationship between vingaiolo and vineyard because Antoine was one of those firmly convinced that the only way to taste the land is to drink wine. The territory of Fiano is thankful.
