The grapes for the Westhofener climat have been collected from sites classified ERSTE LAGE e GROSSE LAGE; this wine is bought from very ripe grapes. Concentrated and guided by minerals, demonstrates the potential of the best vineyards of the Rhine Hesse The quality of the grapes starts from the vineyard with a reduction in yield, hand selection of the fruit and a variety of other biodynamic practices throughout the year. In cellar, a gentle pressing followed by traditional winemaking methods. The wines are mainly fermented in large traditional barrels

Three Senses

Grapefruit aromas, enriched by a delicate spice, mingle with tropical fruits, especially pineapple and passion fruit. There is real depth and complexity in this wine, which also gives hints of green tea.The deliciously fresh character is accentuated by a firm, slightly salty minerality. Very long with a delicate finish, a lighthearted grace that belies its focus and power.

Weingut Wittmann

The Wittmanns and their ancestors have been wine-growers in the old market town of Westhofen, in southern Rheinhessen, where the first documented of viticulture in the family dates from 1663. Today’s estate developed from this long tradition over the course of centuries.
The length of an estate’s viticultural tradition really says nothing about the quality of an estate’s wines. Perhaps, though, it does say something about the bond one has with the piece of land that one cultivates.
Since 1990, we have cultivated our vineyards according to controlled ecological guidelines, and since 2004, biodynamically. By doing so, our soil will remain healthy for future generations, too.
