Ron El Alma 23 Zacapa
Second edition of the Heavenly Casks collection, a limited series that every year celebrates one of the Zacapa 23 aging barrels, the Ex-American Whiskey barrels, the Charred Ex-American Whiskey, the Ex-Oloroso Sherry and the Ex-Pedro Ximénez Sherry emphasizing its characteristics.
The Guatemalan house Zacapa now needs no introduction. His choice to work the Miel Virgen, the virgin juice of the sugar cane from which a part of the water has been removed, brings to the distillate a very pleasant finesse of aromas. Aging then does the rest, through a unique process called the Zacapa Solera System which takes place at 2,300 meters above sea level in the mountains of Guatemala. The altitude and cool temperatures slow down the process favoring the optimal balance between distillate and wood. From a blend of ron aged at high altitudes in Bourbon, Sherry and Pedro Ximenez barrels, a 23 year old version created by Master Blender Lorena Vasquez.
