Beaujolais Village La Napoleon Michal Clotaire 2017
The Napoleon is a cuvée of Gamay from ancient vines between 40 and 80 years. vinification is a whole bunch to achieve a semi-carbonic maceration. Then the wine will age in old oak and fiberglass. The surprising crispness and the thickness of the wines of Michal Clotaire perhaps resides in this unique piece of pink granite, which is expressed in perfect perfect.

After working as a Sommelier in London, Michal Clotaire abandons the big city and the restaurant to return to France, totally changing life and dedicating himself to the land, to the vineyard. From 2008 to 2012 Clotaire produces St. Joseph from Syrah grapes, making wine at Thierry Allemand's winery - where he works almost like a disciple - but is not yet fully satisfied: he chooses to face a new adventure, this time at the most south of Burgundy, in the magical world of Gamay.
In 2013 he buys a property south of Brouilly, precisely in St. Etienne-La-Varenne, in a place kissed by God that he calls "my rough diamond": it is impressive the energy that this patch of land of 3.5 hectares can transmit.
Exposure to the south, old vines from forty years to more than a century, are the starting points that have given life to this new adventure: an adventure that speaks of respect, of fermentation in a whole cluster, of very low sulphurous and interaction between wood (old) and steel, of great work in the vineyard and respect in the cellar. As Clotaire says, "good wine does the work in the vineyard".
