Hauner
Carlo Hauner was born in Brescia, he has Bohemian origins, when he arrived for the first time in the Aeolian Islands in 1963, he fall in love with those lands, ended up moving to Salina in 1970. Restless and curious, he is immediately attracted here by the cultivation of Malvasia, the grapes that local farmers harvest in mid-September and dry in the sun for a couple of weeks. After a careful observation of the local winemaking tradition, integrated with the study of ancient and modern texts, Hauner manages to recover about twenty hectares on which he reconstructs the ancient terraces and gives new life to the ancient vineyards. Thus began to produce his Malvasia, with some innovations: let the grapes wilt directly on the vine and experiment with a cooling technique during fermentation. Small tricks that make his wines end up on the tables of the best restaurants in the world. In full continuity with the past, today the company is headed by Carlo Hauner, the son of the founder who has also the same name.
