Gardelin Aleks Klinec 2019
Aleks Klinec's Gardelin is Pinot Gris macerates on the skins for about 15 days. The vineyard extends for just under one hectare, with very low yields of around 35 ql / ht. After the days in maceration, the grapes are pressed and the wines transferred to the traditional barrels of acacia, mulberry, wild cherry and oak, where they will undergo malolactic fermentation and mature on fine lees for two to three years. A few months after bottling, the wines are then transferred to steel tanks, in which they settle until they become clear. Only at this point does a minimum sulfation proceed to protect the liquid from oxidation. Bottling takes place without filtration and with minimal amounts of added sulphites.
Aleks Klinec
The Klinec company is devoted to sustainable agriculture and in particular to the biodynamic management of vineyards. A strong and decisive choice on the part of Aleks Klinec and his wife, taken in the early years of the new millennium, to return to a family tradition that began in the first post-war period. The company covers nine parcels in the Medana area, at altitudes varying between 150 and 180 masl and for a total of about six hectares. Pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or synthetic fertilizers are not used, but vines are protected from diseases in an environmentally friendly way, treating them with agents extracted from plants and algae. If necessary, acidic clays, silicates, copper and sulfur and self-produced compost are used. Grassing is practiced, important because it contributes to the natural symbiotic balance between the vine and the other plant species, that is to the specific ecosystem of each vineyard with the aim of not affecting the splendid territory called here Brda and composed mostly of eocene rocks called flysch, rich in marine fossils such as the Assilina medanica, which takes its name from Medana. Exposed to the sun and to atmospheric agents, the compact flysch decomposes quickly, turning into fertile, mineral-rich and well-drained soil, while the subsoil preserves the original thick stratification and ensures, thanks to its low permeability, the precious moisture reserves. in the Aleks Klinec winery they exclusively vinify grapes from their own vineyards, harvested by hand in 20 kg baskets and destemmed before being sent for maceration in cement tanks.
A special mention must be given to the Osteria Klinec, a meeting place and free spirit, where you can taste culinary specialties in line with the production of wines.
