Rosso di Mezzo Federico Graziani 2022
Rosso di Mezzo was born in one of the most complicated vintages of the Volcano. In fact, 2018 was a very rainy year, bringing with it all the related problems.
Federico Graziani initially chose to "downgrade" the Profumo di Vulcano wine deriving from his oldest vineyard and on Franco foot, the same vineyard with which Etna conquered it. On balance he is the first to think that a wine like this will hardly be able to propose it again.
The grapes of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Alicante and Francisi give life to a great volcanic red. It ferments in open vats on indigenous yeasts and ages 24 months in steel and 6 in the bottle.
Federico Graziani
It cannot be said that Federico Graziani invested on Etna as an entrepreneur and not as a man animated by the passion for wine. In wine we were almost born, he immediately turned professional and won the great recognition of Best Sommelier of Italy at a very young age. The meetings with the wine hierarchy lead him to meet Salvo Foti and Maurizio Pagano, those of the Maestranze of Etna. And soon the recovery of an almost centenary vineyard in Passopisciaro is expected. Start the adventure on these slopes of Etna, between 600 and 1200 meters above the level of the sea on the north and northwest sides. A mysterious and special place, in an ecosystem unique in the world characterized by extraordinary climatic variability and a landscape rich in contrasts and life.
It is precisely by living in symbiosis with the volcano and adapting to the strength and unpredictability of its elements that here, for over 2000 years, the vine has been cultivated in small pieces of land torn from the mountain. A slow and ancient work, handmade with effort, passion and respect. Today as then.
