Since the birth of the estate, Montevertine has always been the breaking point of Sangiovese with Chianti Classico, having always been a true reference point for the territory. The style of the red Montevertine continues to make history, marking an entire territory, that of Radda in Chianti, with its elegance. Undisputed author of this oenological work Martino Manetti who as a visionary has always looked at the surrounding hills and Sangiovese with another eye. Many winemakers refer to the character of this wine in order to at least draw some lines, but just as Martino wagered in the 70s, it is the territory that guarantees the character of this great Italian red.
Montevertine is a Sangiovese with small percentages of Canaiolo and Colorino
Montevertine
The Montevertine estate is located in the locality Radda in Montevertine. The story of the legendary wines of the winery began in 1971 when Sergio Manetti started to bottle his first wine in his property of Radda purchased as a country house.
It all starts as a game, because Manetti did not imagine that his production could receive so many accolades in the wine world at that time. Encouraged and accompanied in the path from the master Giulio Gambelli, who will take care of the wines until his death, Sergio Manetti made significant investments in the structure of the company and in the vineyards owned. He preserves the area of Chianti that is a place rich in iron ore and rock of Alberese at a height of 450 meters s.l.m., a place composed of clay, sand, silt, marl and limestone, in a wooded landscape. The Pergola Torte born in 1977 markrd a new chapter for the Sangiovese. After the death of Sergio Manetti since 2000 the company is run with increasing success by his son Martino Manetti
