This Riesling comes from the rather steep and sinuous parcel of land called Bickerd, next to the sundial. From these slopes it is not possible to harvest more than 40 quintals per hectare and although Christian Hermann had thought of a Riesling kabinett, he was forced to bottle a Spatlese as at the time of harvesting the extract had 91°Oechsle.

Three Senses
Linear and fresh on the palate but also dense and rich, this Spatlese reveals crystalline, saline and refined acidity. It is a Laser ray in the mouth, not typically traceable to Sonnenuhr, but of a particular hedonistic expression.

Dr Hermann

The winery dr. Hermann with over 13.5 hectares of vineyards is managed by Christian Hermann. Viticulture has been a tradition of the Hermann family for several centuries. Today's winery was created in 1967 from the legacy of the Joh.Jos winery. Christoffel Erben in Ürzig, when Christian's grandfather, doctor Dr. Hermann, founded his own winery with the vineyards belonging to his family branch.

At the same time the ownership of the vineyards was constantly increased. The production facility was relocated from Ürzig to Erden with the construction of a spacious and modern cellar.

The focus is on growing Riesling on steep slopes. Almost all of the company's vineyards at the famous sites of Erdener Prälat, Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen are planted with ungrafted Riesling vines, which produce the best Rieslings. The aforementioned locations are among the most traditional vineyards in the world - quality viticulture has been practiced here since ancient times almost 2000 years ago.
