Near the Tower of Gattinara are the vineyards that Mauro Franchino looks after with care and passion. The healthy harvested grapes arrive in the cellar where, after a traditional vinification, the wine is placed for about a year in large barrels which allows its character to be tamed, even if not too much. Wine with a long life, which over time will not miss an opportunity to be recognized.

Three Senses

The color is garnet red. On the nose the notes of red fruits are combined with hints of citrus and undergrowth. In mouth is very energetic, excellent minerality and always dynamic tannins, which in any case do not disturb the fruity scent that is constantly perceived. A long and persistent finish.
Mauro Franchino's Gattinara can be drunk at the table combined with numerous dishes, both first and second courses of meat, or even with a
mixed platter of cured meats will always be perfect.

In the geographical area of ​​northern Piedmont, that of Gattinara is to be considered one of the most important
denominations of controlled and guaranteed origin, capable as it is of proposing an interpretation of Nebbiolo
alternative to the classic and renowned Barolo and Barbaresco, and at the same time able to offer a qualitative level extremely interesting.
Of the approximately one hundred hectares of vineyards within the territory of the denomination, ninety are divided among the three largest producers, while the other ten are divided among a handful of winemakers who resist modernity and spend time, remaining closely anchored to the most ancient local traditions, symbolized by the ancient tower of Gattinara that crumbles, and that stands out proudly on the labels of these few winegrowers.
In this scenario, Mauro Franchino is, precisely, a "vigneron" of Gattinara, for years rooted in the lands
of high Piedmont, exactly in the province of Vercelli.
With tireless pride, dedication, love and unconditional passion, Mauro Franchino raises his three hectares
owned vineyards, as do all those who were born and raised in the lands of Gattinara, believing confidently day after day, harvest after harvest, in the vine and in the wine. Mauro Franchino not has no computer, no e-mail address, no website and no internet: Mauro Franchino produces simply Gattinara, always. Its wines, obtained from Nebbiolo grapes processed in purity and characterized by a typical minerality, they are fermented in concrete tanks, they have never known the barrique, et they carry out the aging by stopping only and exclusively in large barrels.
