The 2023 vintage in Mosel turned out to be extraordinary. The combination of abundant rainfall in August and warm September weather caused the wines to acquire amazing qualities. Rieslings that, despite the climatic difficulties, turned out as clear, precise, fine and elegant as ever. These characteristics allowed, for Christian Hermann, the highest score in the Robert Parker rankings for all four of his Trockenbeerenauslese. Rieslings of exceptional rarity and quality.

The Trockenbeerenauslese 2023 Ürziger Würzgarten, of which only 40 liters were produced, is a golden riesling that opens with a bright, clear and concentrated nose reminiscent of ripe, stewed yellow fruits mixed with hints of flint, as well as honey, white nougat, dried apricots and peaches. Highly refined and elegant on the palate.

Dr Hermann

The winery dr. Hermann with over 13.5 hectares of vineyards is managed by Christian Hermann. Viticulture has been a tradition of the Hermann family for several centuries. Today's winery was created in 1967 from the legacy of the Joh.Jos winery. Christoffel Erben in Ürzig, when Christian's grandfather, doctor Dr. Hermann, founded his own winery with the vineyards belonging to his family branch.

At the same time the ownership of the vineyards was constantly increased. The production facility was relocated from Ürzig to Erden with the construction of a spacious and modern cellar.

The focus is on growing Riesling on steep slopes. Almost all of the company's vineyards at the famous sites of Erdener Prälat, Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen are planted with ungrafted Riesling vines, which produce the best Rieslings. The aforementioned locations are among the most traditional vineyards in the world - quality viticulture has been practiced here since ancient times almost 2000 years ago.
