La Croà is a red wine made from grapes of a variety native to the upper Staffora Valley, which Matteo and Alessio discovered growing among rows of Pinot Noir. After careful analysis, they identified it as a traditional local variety, characterized by late ripening but capable of producing wines with moderate alcohol content. The vineyards face south and are planted on calcareous-clay soil rich in Tortonian marl.

After manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentation is conducted in open vats. Eighty percent of the mass is whole berries obtained by manual and mechanical destemming (a small portion) and the remaining 20 percent whole bunches. Maceration is prolonged for 7 to 8 days with daily punching down.

Three Senses
La Croà wine immediately stands out for its clarity and brightness. The aromas of oxidized flowers and dried plum are not signs of oxidation, but rather expressions of the wine’s character, which is softened by peppery notes. This unique grape variety, largely unknown to most, seems to give its best on the palate, where its vibrant acidity, persistent fruitiness, and enveloping texture make for a satisfying sip—full of energy and perfect for summer drinking.

Cas Al Mat

Cas' Al'Mat is a very young winery founded by Alessio (Al) and Matteo (Mat) who cultivate their own vineyards in Casasco (Cas). We will tell you in two lines how this adventure took place:
in May 2018 Matteo (oenologist in Oltrepò) and Alessio (engaged in work in the Langa) find an ad on the internet; a man residing in the Cuneo area had decided to put his properties in the Tortona hills up for sale. Struck by the beauty of the landscape, a high, windy and wild ridge, they decided to fix an appointment which they were unable to materialize at the first meeting, but after two years, with great conviction and with all their savings, they managed to acquire it.

In this place between Casasco and Brignano Frascata, still in the province of Alessandria, the sensations linked to the soil, the altitude, the purity of the air and the different exposures are absolutely positive; because all around there are fields, woods, small villages in a state of semi-abandonment; because the few vineyard plots in the immediate vicinity bear convincing fruit. Timorasso is certainly the driving vine of these areas, resulting in wines with a strong personality, wines that sometimes divide and therefore do not leave one indifferent, whites that often puff up their chest and pose as reds. Matteo and Alessio will carry out the first planting shortly in their land but at the moment they make wine from the grapes granted by some local producers close to their philosophy. But also a vineyard in Monleale in the heart of the Timorasso area, leased thanks to Walter Massa.
