Domaine de La Croix Montjoie
Not everything in Burgundy is born for centuries. Like many other areas of Europe, even in this area with the past Medieval past, there are young professionals who resume work in the countryside. The Domaine La Croix Montjoie was founded in 2009 by Sophie and Matthieu Woillez, both agronomists and oenologists, and takes its name from the cross at the crossroads of Vézelay and Tharoiseau. The ten acres of vineyards planted at Chardonnay are located in the municipality of Tharoiseau and cellar of the property is the farm of the old castle of Tharoiseau, with a splendid view of the basilica and the slopes of Morvan.
There are no climat, but Sophie and Matthieu have decided to create three very different cuvée, selecting the grapes on the basis of ripening and age of the vineyards.
Ten hectares exposed south-south east, on clay-calcareous terrain, from which three cuvée of Bourgogne Vézelay and a Crémant de Bourgogne are produced. From 0.17 ha of pinot noir planted in 2010 they produce their Irancy. New 2014 woods have amplified the delight of the Domaine wines by lightening the input given by the wood.
