Neisson
Since 1932, the NEISSON distillery has been able to preserve the components of a rum with incomparable aromas and flavors in the purest Martinique tradition.
A small distillery at the entrance to a fishing village, the only one owned by a woman, and led by her son Gregory Vernant Neisson, who remained today the last master distiller owner in the island.
Today Neisson is a leader in the internal market and beyond.
Neisson is considered the best agricultural rhum of Martinique, the family owns forty hectares in the municipality of La Carbet, and processes only the cane coming from its plantations. Furthermore, it continues to cultivate three non-hybrid sugarcane varieties: malanoi, rubanée and crystalline, which have been included among the rods permitted in the specification of the AOC rhum agricole of Martinique.
The slow fermentation of pure cane juice lasts 72 hours, the longest of all the French Antilles, developing a unique aromatic complexity. Grégory is carrying out experiments on the production of indigenous yeasts selected on its property.
The distillation is carried out by Gregory himself in the legendary Savarella copper column of 1938 at 73 °: a crafted, meticulous, almost maniacal distillation, with a low alcohol content, in the spirit of producing a rhum of great structure.
