Vigneto Saetti
Vigneto Saetti is a family winery located in the DOC district of Santa Croce, in the province of Modena, founded in 1998 by Luciano Saetti, a winemaker from generation. The vineyards are about 2.80 hectares of contiguous land in the Carpi area, where most probably the Salamino di Santa Croce began to spread in ancient times.
The main feature of this area is the safety of the soil, which its conformation to watercourses is a time that flows and you leave on their path sands, silts and clays. The soil of Vigneto Saetti is characterized by the strong presence of clay that reaches seven meters deep: this characteristic, together with the favorable climate and the experience gained in respect of nature and its equilibrium, gives a particular vigor to the vineyard even without use of chemical or natural fertilizers.
Sun and water, these are the only elements that Luciano and his daughter Sara use to cultivate their properties and produce their own wines. The original plant of the vines dates back to 1964, over the years the cultivation systems have been selected and improved, it has always been tried not to alter the natural balance of the vineyard. To date, in fact, during the manual collection of sales, a careful selection has been made to obtain a wholly healthy product; the vineyard is also irrigated by itself with small drips and green pruning is not practiced.
In the vineyard we try to keep the answers and we do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides, so we have not been adding an ounce of sulfur dioxide for years in the cellar: to preserve the wine we simply make use of a rigorous selection of the bunches at the time of harvesting and the oldest vinification process, the natural fermentation in the bottle.
Producing wine without sulfur dioxide has been a long process, which has led Luciano Saetti to significantly reduce production and reduce efforts in the countryside and in the cellar. It is a true production philosophy that requires a lot of patience and attention.
