We let be intrigued by Masseria del Pino already far away from the Etnaa area.In our journey it became almost a challenge to find the rare labels.

Leaving Donnalucata with a dry mouth, we found ourselves in the most wooded part of the volcano, where the tiny parcels of old vineyards are protected by dry stone walls and hidden by chestnut woods.

Federica Turillo and Cesare Fulvio got lost in these places, diving into a medieval past.

After leaving their previous life, they buy a millstone and settle in the contrada del Pino in 2005, and then start getting serious with wine since 2014.

Here, at 800 meters, they find 120 pre-phylloxera vineyards inside the farmhouse. years of age, an old press and large fermentation vats in lava stone.

With a rediscovered perception of time, they let themselves be transported by the most ancestral oenological practices: they trample the grapes barefoot in the vats, then a fermentation begins outdoors, then the must is finally pressed into old 500-liter tonneaux, where the wine it remains for over a year until bottling.

The surrounding chestnut trees are used to build the tonneaux and this set of elements clearly identifies the district.
