Poderi Mattioli - Serra de Conti (AN)
"The ancient traditions... Are the solid foundation that allows us to look to the future"
he history of Poderi Mattioli has its roots in the green hills of the Marche region, in Serra de Conti to be precise, in the heart of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi production area. A perfect territory for the cultivation of vines overlooking, on one side, the sea and on the other, the mountains, which offer shelter creating a temperate climate.
The Mattioli family has always constituted an important farming reality in the area, and in the 1960s it was Argilio Mattioli who founded a small family business focused on the cultivation of wheat and grapes and the production of oil.
Later, with the entry of the new generation consisting of Argilio's sons, Giordano and Giacomo, Poderi Mattioli became more and more established in the winemaking scene also with the construction of a modern winery. The vineyards are conducted according to organic farming principles. There are about 6 hectares under vine and they are divided into three main vineyards: La Spina whose grapes are used to produce Ylice; Mogliette whose grapes are used to produce Lauro; Grecale in which, in addition to Verdicchio, a small percentage of Chardonnay grapes are also grown. Grapes from this vineyard are used to produce Metodo Classico. All the vines have a Guyot training system and the soils are medium-textured, some with a higher percentage of sand and others with a higher percentage of clay.
